Observation Experience Journal Report 1
My first hours I spent observing were at Port Neches-Groves High School with Mrs. Wilkinson. She is a very nice teacher and understands her students very well. Here are some principles based on what I have learned about here in the five and a half hours I have been there.
Principle 1 Knowledge of Subject Matter
The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the disciplines he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that male these aspects of subject matter meaningful to students.
My teacher is very well knowledgeable of the subject she teaches which isIndividual and Family Life. She asks the students if they have and questions and when she answers them she tries to answer the questions in a non-complicating way.
Principle 2 Human Development and Learning
The teacher understands how children learn and develop, and can provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social, and personal development.
In believe that my teacher is very well knowledgeable about human development and learning. She doesn’t give her students work that is too hard for them, and asks them questions that they have to think about to get the answers to.Mrs. Wilkinson lets the class talk amongst themselves so they can interact with each other and ask each other questions.
Principle 3 Diversity in Learning
The teacher understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.
Principle 4 Variety of Instructional Strategies
The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

The teacher uses understanding of the individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment...
