Some people say that religion is just a way to ‘control the masses’. Others see it as a comfort source and an answer to many unanswerable questions. However, Scientology is described as: the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. (The church of Scientology archives)L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology’s influence on the youth of today was greatly underestimated until recently; now it is recognized as one of the fastest sweeping religions yet and it includes and explores ideas that no other religion has yet covered.
L. Ron Hubbard is the founder of Scientology. He has written many things on subjects such as drug rehabilitation, education, marriage, family, success at work, administration and art. (The church of Scientology archives) Scientologists say he was a visionary man who explored the spirit like no one before himself. Others, however, testify that he is the founder of a great scam.
Scientology is not cheap. It is the only religion where money actually matters. Scientologists see psychiatrists on a regular basis. However, these regular visits cost around 1,000 dollars an hour, and some people lose everything. No cult extracts more money from its members”. (Behar 50) The psychiatric help that scientologists are encouraged to get is called auditing. There are steps to auditing and each one is more costly and uncomfortable than the next.
The beliefs of Scientology are even more unusual. The creation of man on earth is not actually seen as a creation at all. It is actually seen as banishment. According to Hubbard, humans are actually made of clusters of spirits called thetans who were banished to earth by a cruel galactic ruler named Xenu more than 75 million years ago....
