The word “blood” is mentioned many times in the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The use of the word “blood” has a very large role in the story, Shakespeare uses it to develop Macbeth as a character and show how he changes from the beginning of the story to the end. This also means that the symbolism of the word blood changes as the story plays out. In the first act, Shakespeare uses blood as a way to create suspense between the characters. In the opening scene after the battle between Scotland and Norwegian blood is used to symbolize bravery. A bloody sergeant appears and is talking to the king about how the noble Macbeth slay a traitor from the nave to the chop, this shows that the blood spilt in this part of the story is the blood of traitors and not of noble men. s s s df f s s s f ds s f s s a w s d r e d d f s d f e s d f s s d ds d d d gf d s d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d ed eded edededededededede d d d d d d d d f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f
