Italian Life

As it was, Victor Emmanuel III was recently reigned King in July after King Hubert was recently assassinated. During this time was a tough job as Italy had chronic political instability. The Italians were very religious and used this as a means of getting through the tough times of family leaving and the country’s instability. Eighty-seven percent of Italians are Roman Catholic’s while the rest are of mixed religions. Unfortunately, here in Italy, the government was not respected; and with no help from the church. The Roman Catholic Church ordered Catholics not to vote as the government’s previous decisions had lost them much land back when the North and South were unified. Surprisingly, the Pope had much power over the country. The church has also blocked the vote that would make divorce and abortion legal. I have gotten used to many more rights in my futuristic American life. AsI talk to a nearby neighbor who is outside gardening, I am talking about these current facts and comparing them to my life in 2008. A king? My life here in the suburbs of Rome is substantially different to the life I left when I stepped into the time machine. Here in Italy, we have very little control over our personal life and those who opposed were punished as needed.( Domenico, 1987, 23) I make my way down the street and bump into my past life friend, Natalia, and she asks me if I will be visiting long. She would like to know if I would be around for the weekend since a group of girls I attended school with there will be getting together to visit the museums. This did not sound as appealing to me as the last time I visited and we went to the see the Olympics which were held in Italy this past summer. This is much more of the type of activity we enjoy in the future life. I explained that I would only be visiting shortly as I have research to do for my university, and besides I have tickets to a Ranger Game tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden.
