1. Research your topic and Look for reference materials
There are two types of reference materials that will be useful for you:
A) Materials on subculture theory and concepts (general)
B) Materials on the subculture you are planning to write on (specific)

Where can I find academic references?
Search the MGU library catalogue and browse the book stacks.
Search the MGU databases
Search ‘NACSIS Webcat’ and ‘Webcat Plus’
Search ‘Google Scholar’
Look at the Reference Lists and Works Cited Lists of academic works
(such as the Week 7 reading by Patrick J. Williams).

2. Read materials and Take notes.
You should read all the materials before you begin writing your essay.
While you are reading the materials, take notes in the most simple language you can. Make sure you properly record where the information in your notes came from (e.g. author, book, page number, etc.)

3. Organize your notes and Make essay plan
The notes from your research should form the basis of your essay (not your opinion or what you think of the subculture).
Try to organize your notes in a logical way. For example, divide your notes into different themes. These themes can then become the main topic for each of your paragraphs.
