Jazz Report

Music soared through the auditorium for a moment more, then it stopped and the crowd was silent. That moment of silence, right before the applause, that is my favorite. It’s a moment filled with anticipation (on the musician’s part) and a moment of utter sweetness for the crowd. This is how I felt during this concert. The side-by-side concert was one of my favorite concerts. They played many different pieces, including Selections: Suite from Pelleas et Melisande, Concerto in D minor for Two Pianos and Orchestra, and Symphony in D Minor.
I really liked this number; Selections: Suite from Pelleas et Melisande. The orchestra did a wonderful job pulling the audience into the song. This song reminded me of the movie Sabrina, the one with Audrey Hepburn in it. The prelude was very soft, and yet it still left the listener begging to hear more. Fileuse (spinner) reminded me a lot of the music in the ballet Sleeping Beauty. It was very calm, yet had a dark twist in parts of it. The wind instruments were a beautiful part of this song. The string instruments sounded like they were running somewhere for a lot of the song. With those two parts mixed together it turned out to be a very cool sounding song that kept the listener interested. Sicilienne or slow dance was by far my favorite of the three sections. It sounds like a meadow with a river running past millions of flowers. I like the flute mixed with the violin. It was very peaceful, it kind of sounded like a lullaby.
This song was definitely my favorite out of all of them. It was called , Concerto in D minor for Two Pianos and Orchestra. The piano soloist did a marvelous job; I loved their red dresses. The first of the three sections called, Allegro ma non troppo, was very bewitching. The piano soloists sounded like they were having some sort of a competition. It also looked like it too because of the way their bodies moved with the music. Parts of this song reminded me of the jazz piece in Fantasia 2000, I guess it...
