My name is Paul Michael Leclair. I am a Special Agent with the Coast Guard Investigative Service. My current duty assignment is at the Regional Office located in Cleveland, Ohio. I am married to my wife, Colleen, for the past 19 years, and we have 5 children. Samantha, who is 22 years old, just graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, with a degree in Health Sciences. Megan, who is 19 years old, will be a sophomore at St. John’s River College near St. Augustine, Florida. Cameron, who will be 18 years old, will be a senior at Seminole High School in Seminole, Florida. Ian, who is 16 years old, will be a sophomore at Seminole High School. And finally Ryan. Ryan will be 15 years old, and will be a freshman at Seminole High School.
My current role in my organization is the Assistant Special Agent in Charge or ASAC, of the Regional Office in Cleveland, Ohio. I oversee the daily operations of the 6 Resident Agent Offices, or RAO’s, which are located in Massena, New York, Buffalo, New York, Detroit, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Sault St. Marie, Michigan. I am the direct supervisor for 37 active duty and civilian Special Agents, plus I supervise approximately 25 reserve Special Agents. I handle all personnel issues, good and bad, as well as approve operation plans, review and approve reports, and keep my Special Agent in Charge or SAC, apprised of what’s going on in the Region daily.
I believe I lead by example, I would not ask any of the agents that work for me to do something I have never done before. I do not believe in the “do as I say not as I do” mentality. As a leader, I need to have the people I lead believe and trust in me. I am fair and impartial but I also know when to have the tough talks with my agents.
