The impacts of South China Sea dispute in VIETNAM


INTRODUCTION
“Who rules the World-island commands the world.”
South China Sea territorial disputes, especially those in the Hoang Sa Islands (Paracels) and Truong Sa Islands (Spratlys) emerged after World War II, but they have escalated to the level of serious, especially from early XXI century by tough action from claims of countries involved.
The warming along with high frequency of meetings, international security forum to address these issues are signaling a change of thinking and action strategies of many countries on the South China Sea as well as complexities of the geopolitical and regional order. This is a huge problem, not only related to the territorial dispute, but also contains benefits and the broader ambitious strategies of many countries in this region. Until now, they can be generalized into three parties: China; ASEAN; and the U.S. For Vietnam, South China Sea has extremely great value for the development of economic, social and political, | Map: “The disputes in South China Sea”

This paper focuses on clarifying the policies and interests of the parties in South China Sea, especially its impacts to Vietnam.
