Knowing the Future

If it were possible to know the future today, then most would adjust their activities and decisions of the day before to somehow alter the future that they already know. If the present or near future is altered to change or assure something in the future, then we would have the power to not only know, but also to change the future. If our alterations are successful and our future, once known but changed, is then changed, then it is not the future. It was only a probability- an illusion.
Many people would like to know their future, while others shirk from the thought. There are many different pros and cons of knowing the future. Some of the advantages include being able to change or avoid accidents, tragedies, and mistakes. Some of the disadvantages include losing incentive to achieve, safety and awareness may be jeopardized, and disappointment can sometimes be very depressing. It depends strongly on how the person reacts to the information they discover if they are given the chance to know their future. However, it is very possible for a person to lose incentive in helping others, standing up for a certain cause or working towards a goal if they know the outcome of their efforts. And while many people would look to change or avoid any mistakes that the future holds for them, then people can no longer learn from their mistakes. If mistakes are never made, we will not be able to learn the differences between right and wrong and we would not be able to grow through the choices we make and how the results affect our lives.
In reality, the future does not exist. The future and the future events of our lives are nothing but dreams and goals that we create for ourselves. If the weird sisters did not tell Macbeth that he would become king, then he most likely would never have murdered King Duncan.
