Introduction


On Aug. 5, 2010, a gold and copper mine near the northern city of Copiapó, Chile caved in, trapping 33 miners in a chamber about 2,300 feet below the surface. For 17 days, there was no word on their fate. As the days passed, Chileans grew increasingly skeptical that any of the miners had survived — let alone all of them. But when a small bore hole reached the miners’ refuge, they sent up a message telling rescuers they were still alive.

Some consideration to remember given the roles and people in the audience are the belief system of each member of the audience and do they hold the truth that their love one is alive. The emotions of the audience should be understood. Understanding the expectation of the audience and meet those expectation is certainly one of the most important thing to consider. You also would need to address the audience concerns.
The potential needs of the miners’ families in receiving a message about this incident would be that all mean of rescuing the miner’s is being meet and doing every thing they can to rescue the miners and prevent future harm to them. They would want to know how it happen and is anyone investigating the reason why the incident happen. What time the incident occurs, are their relative still a live once they are reached, how long will it take to find out if everyone is still alive? Families will want update every so often on rescue process. That they are being supported and all questions will be answers to the best of their abilities
