“Komen for the Cure”
Breast cancer is one of the most unfortunate illnesses targeting women of all ages around the world. The drive for the cure lies within the heart to succeed and Susan G. Komen helped start the movement. Susan’s foundation began in her honor by her younger sister Nancy Goodman Brinker. After Susan’s fight against breast cancer ended unfortunately, Nancy promised her sister to find a way to help speed up the process to finding a cure. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation has many different ways of raising money for finding a cure for breast cancer. From donating five dollars to getting involved in a cancer walk; every bit of the contributions helps at least one woman in the world fight for her life. With Susan Komen’s website, she not only raises money for the cause but raises breast cancer awareness. The website even has personal testimonies for those who have little faith in the foundation. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a website for all people whether they have questions about breast cancer or just want to help in any way to contribute to the foundation. The site has everything we could possibly ask for; the question is, can we find it and is it credible.
From the homepage of the Komen for Cure, the entire website is very informative on breast cancer yet they do not provide a clear area of who exactly they are receiving their information from. The site has a way to contact the organization; the problem is they don’t specify who we are contacting. Although the site does seem more informative rather than scientific with a lot of statistics – being the website is about cancer – those who contribute their knowledge are “council members [who serve] as distinguished scholars advising and providing expertise to Susan G.
