Through out the history of the world, natural resources have always played a major role in the development of its nation and its regions. From the earliest history of the river civilization to rich oil producing modern countries are all monumental to the fact.
As the map in document #1 clearly shows, the ancient civilizations developed and thrived near the rivers which are the most important natural resources of its time. Only by being near the river people were able to survive by drinking the life giving water. The river also contributed greatly to the development of society by making agricultural life possible.
River was not the only source of water that was important to the region. Rain season like monsoon played a critical role in agricultural development of the region as well as document #2 demonstrates. Calculation of this season is still very important in today’s modern world.
As more time elapsed in human history, men discovered new source of wonder energy in the form of coal. This new sensation has helped to develop a nation into becoming an industrial nation finally bring the Industrial Revolution to the global level. This change was so significant that coal was intertwined with every aspect of human daily life during the Industrial Revolution in England as document #3, and document #4 shows.
As we move into the modern world, we see that oil is the natural resources that all nations’ attention is focused on. Document #5 demonstrates how this black gold can change the whole economy of a nation. Country such as Kuwait went from poor to rich in matter of decade due to this natural resource.
