Leading Causes of Air Pollution

Tassia Hegyi English 190 Professor Althoff October 25, 2008 Hybrid Cars “Motor vehicle emissions are one of the leading causes of air pollution,” according to the Internet. From the first Ford vehicle to now, vehicles are still continuing to produce more and more pollution. Many scientists and businesses are trying to find a solution for a decrease in air pollution. By reducing the amount of gasoline intake by vehicles, the air pollution will decrease. I believe strongly that the hybrid car is one of the best solutions to decrease air pollution. In order to begin this trend, scientists need to do more research, but to achieve that; the government needs to set a budget towards the research. Hybrid cars will reduce carbon emissions, help the environment, and reduce gasoline consumption. The Ford Model A was the first car produced by Ford Motors. The production began in 1903. Since the vehicle was expensive during that time, very few were able to own such a device. Only 1,750 Model A Vehicles were made from 1903-1904. After the first year of the Model A, the Model C was made and many other cars. The trend of owning a vehicle began to skyrocket after the depression. Though, the vehicle was a symbol of money and power, many didn’t realize what the emissions were doing to our planet. Many vehicles, including the Ford Model T had heat-trapping pollution. This means that exhaust and emissions can stay in the atmosphere for many decades. Some emissions from the Model T’s, 1912, are still in the atmosphere today. These emissions are thickening the greenhouse gases and are causing global warming. Throughout many years, people have been trying to find a solution to reduce greenhouse gases and emissions in our atmosphere. There have been attempts of reducing gas mileage on vehicles, raising gas prices, and many others. Raising gas prices would reduce the amount of people driving because they wouldn’t be able to afford the gas. But, this would soon lead us into another...
