Legal Drinking Age One of the most controversial topics in the United States is the legal drinking age. Students in high school and college are faced with an ever-pressing issue each year. The legal drinking is one of the few responsibilities that American society feels they are not ready to handle. After viewing three important arguments I have come to the conclusion that the legal drinking age should be changed to eighteen. I have come to this conclusion by two out of my three arguments being the better opinion. I am going to state my three topics and give both sides of the arguments. Following both of the arguments in each paragraph I will state my opinion about that topic. Drunk driving is the one big factor why people do not want to change the legal drinking age. The majority of people who want the age at twenty-one to remain would say that changing the legal drinking age to eighteen would give more young people the opportunity to drink and drive. In this instance there wouldbe a risk of many more deaths in America due to drunk driving. The people supporting the legalage of eighteen would say that less people might drink and drive. Thereasoning would be that if underage drinkers could consume alcohol they would not have to be forced to drive from authorities. In this case I would support the legal age of twenty-one. Drunk driving is a very big concern to a lot of people and keeping the age at twenty-one would reduce drunk drivers on the road as opposed to eighteen. If the age were lowered to eighteen there would be less conflict with higher authorities such as parents and police officers. The supporters of twenty-one being the legal drinking age would argue that you would be letting more people consumealcohol. They would say it would not be a problem because less people would be drinking. The opposing side would argue that there would be less conflict and struggle. Parents would not have to worry about their son or daughter getting arrested for underage...
