Mandatory online visa applications

The Department of Immigration has
with effect from 2 July 2015 introduced
electronic visa application for persons
wishing to visit Kenya. Given the short
notice, the online visa application system
will run concurrent with the manual
application system (where applications
are done at the port of entry) until
1 September 2015 when the manual
system will be phased out.
In view of this new development, foreign
nationals who ordinarily require a visa to visit
Kenya need to take note of the following steps:
(a) Visit the electronic visa page at
www.ecitizen.go.ke

(b) Select register as a visitor (Afterwards
you have registered, you will receive an
email that you need to click on to verify
and confirm your registration. You will
be prompted to upload a digital passport
photo (maximum size of 500px by 500px).
(c) To start the application process, you
will log in and select department of
immigration services
(d) Select submit application
(e) Select Kenyan Visa
(f) Select the type of visa (in this case visitor).
Some instructions will be listed on the page
for your attention.
(g) Complete the application form (any
incomplete application will be rejected. An
application that is rejected means that you
will start all over again and pay afresh for
the new application). As you apply, you
will need to scan the bio-data page of your
passport (the page with your photo, name
and biographical data)

(h) Pay using your visa card, MasterCard or
debit card
(i) Await approval which will be sent to you by
email. This process could take up to 7 days.
(j) Upon receipt of the email advising that the
visa has been approved, you will log back
into your ecitizen account and download
your visa.
(k) Print a copy of your visa to present to an
immigration officer at your point of entry
into Kenya...
