Legalize Gay/Lesbian Marriages

What is marriage, you may ask? In the dictionary it states that marriage it is the formal union of a man and a woman; yet times have changed and the homosexual lifestyle is becoming more accepting in today’s world. Legalizing gay and lesbian marriages has caused great controversy over the years in various countries. However, recently several states have legalized gay and lesbian marriages such as, California, Vermont, Iowa, New York, Minnesota, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and several other states. Even though many people are against gay and lesbian marriage as it goes against beliefs and the idea of what marriage should be, it should be legalized as to child adoptions will improve since partners of the same sex cannot reproduce. Another reason why gay and lesbian marriage should be legalized due to the fact that denying their marriage is a form of discrimination. Lastly, gay and lesbian marriage should be legalized as to love is love; no one has the right to tell someone who they should and shouldn’t love, whether the couple is homosexual or heterosexual.


To begin with gay and lesbian marriages should be legalized as to child adoptions will improve since it is impossible for the same-sex to reproduce. In my opinion it is a benefit due to the fact that many orphans will have families. Some couples may adopt children from foster homes, but not many will adopt due to the fact that they have the ability to have their own children. Although there are many people who believe that children who have parents of the same sex will turn out gay or different than a child who has been raised in a household with parents of the opposite sex, they are sadly mistaken. Believe it or not, children who have been raised by parents of the same gender turn out to be more adjusted than children raised by heterosexual parents.
