The experience I got from motivational speaker was beyond my expectation. Before even Lecia J. Rives starts speak to us, I have read the booklet, a short biography, about whom we are going to meet. I could not believe that all this about one person, and she stays before us and ready to talk. Therefore, my attention was already catching by that.
It was very inspiring to hear that she has finished Tennessee State University. Moreover, by her words, it was not easy. Lecia came to Nashville 19 eighty-nine the very first time. She was full of hope, although she had no plan. As J. Rives mention, from 366 pupil at her school Lecia was number 20 on the list and she has finished school with all “A”, but after taking the compass test she found out that she was going to take all developmental classes besides English. That was a shock for her. In fact, I take all developmental classes right now, so I know exactly how she felt back then. However, the difference is that I know that I have holes in my knowledge, and the big part of it that English is my second language. I know it is not excuse, so I am working on it. At the end of semester Lecia received all “A”-s and start running for dorm-president. The funny part of her story was when she said she wanted to be a president desperately, so when J. Rives finally won it, she had no idea what to do with that. As the motivational speaker mention, it was too much power for one person. At that point, by listening to her story, I absolutely agreed, as I could predict how everything might turn out.
She was a “star” in collage, everybody knew who she was and wanted to be her. Lecia ran everything and everybody. Nevertheless, I think it is too much pressure for one person, so she forgot the main reason she came to TSU-become a better person and get your education.
