Lesson Plan Critique

Every child was born to a different characteristic and intelligence which made every one of them unique and special. From the PowerPoint by Dr. Howard Gardner, we learnt about 8 different type of intelligence, which apply to every one of us. From the lesson plan “” by Danny and Carina, we are able to identify the lack of important of the four type of intelligence which are the book smart, the body smart, the music smart, and the picture smart.
A book smart person is also known as a person who has strong linguistic intelligence by reading, memorizing, and making up rhymes, etc. Children who are book smart are easy to identify during class observation because they are more likely to read along with the teachers during story telling activity. However, on the lesson plan, the teachers only used a book and to overpass the author of the book during introduction on the lesson plan should not happen. Teachers should have introduced a few books that can be related to traffic signs during the lesson, although only a brief introduction on each of the story book is needed during the reading books section. Passing the books around among students or placing the books on the board for a follow up activity would be helpful for students.
Body smart also known as body intelligence is a person with strong bodily-kinesthetic intelligence by doing role plays, exercising while reviewing, or asking logical questions. From the lesson plan, the teachers only mention a follow up activity which is taking the children for a field trip to the library. They did not mention what action they will be doing while singing the song. Since the song has already repeated several important words, such as “stop”, “look”, and “listen”, teachers can instruct the students to pretend as if they are about to cross the street, teachers can instruct the students to stop at some spot, then to look left and right, or to listen to sounds effect such as a car’s honking sound, the sirens of an...
