It might sound weird, but snowboarding is something that has always been there for me, I guess kind of like a best friend. It’s the one of the few things that has been constant throughout most of my life. It’s a religion I love to practice and put my heart into. Yes, It’s has hurt me, and beat me down to where I couldn’t breath and wanted to quit…but it was always a smack in the face, showing me what I did wrong, and taught me how to fix it. Snowboarding has brought my friends and I together. We have seen each other triumph over something that scared us to death. We have also watched each other fall and cry to themselves, but get right back up again and cuss it away. It has given us bruises and scares that we love to look back upon and say, “damn…that was close”. It doesn’t matter weather it’s a freezing cold day with two feet of new snow, or a gorgeous slushy day in the park, snowboarding portrays the word essence better than anything else. I realize that I’m obsessed, but I can proudly say that I’m not alone when I say I have found true love.
Snowboarding changed my life completely in every aspect. Ever since I started snowboarding I have dressed, acted, talked, spent my money, and spent my time all differently. It has taught me a lot also. I think I learned what pain really means when I broke my back snowboarding, and I learned what happiness through accomplishment is with every new trick you finally land. It teaches you discipline in a lot of ways. I see my friends and I practicing new things over and over again until we finally stick it, and not giving up until we do. I think the best part about it, is that your friends are always there to encourage you, and push you till you triumph, or fall.
My snowboarding buddies and I created a brotherhood, and when one of us fell or got hurt, everyone took care of them. No one ever got left behind. We all progressed really fast, because we would push one another. We would help each other out,...
