“I’d rather be a tall ugly, weed” Do all people feel this way? People feel the need to have a purpose in life. The poem “Identity” by Julia Noboa Polanco tells of how the narrator would rather be a tall, ugly weed if it meant being free and strong, over being a beautiful, sweet smelling flower that is stuck in the same place for all its life. The poem relates to the human condition because it tells about life and the way people look at their lives. Self-Identity is important because it allows people to figure out who they are and why they are here. Love is an everyday occurrence in the lives of people. People encounter some type of love daily, whether it is the love of friends, family or a spouse. Love is not a straight, safe road;there are many bumps and heartbreaks along the way. The short story “The Tractor” by Peter Cowan demonstrates some of these hardships. “The Tractor” shows how the main characters, Ann and Ken, are a normal couple who have disagreements. Ann and Ken deal with their problems, and although it may not be the best way to deal with these problems, it works for them. People go through many problems in life and love. To succeed they have to come up with the best way to deal with these problems for them. Death is an inevitable part of life.It can come at the most unexpected of times, or a person can be waiting for death. It affects people all the time, sometimes death will bring out the good in people, sometimes it will bring out the bad. Even when people are expecting death, are they ever really ready for it? “id rather forget we cant live forever” by Marvyn G. Machura tells of a death and how the character felt ready for it, but when the time came found that this was not the case. Who is to say that the characters family was ready for the death? The characters death would affect many lives and no one would be expecting it when they were told of the death. Even though people die daily from accidents, murders and natural causes, are they ready...
