Race and Your Community

I live in a small relatively conservative community in Stevenson Ranch California, originally Santa Clarita which date back to 1930’s, but roots of the city can be outline back from the late 1800’s. The city of Santa Clarita is located at the southern corner of California but the best way to describe where to find it would be to look up LAX airport. The activities for families with children and adolescents are pretty much common here since 35% of population is constituted by individuals less than 18 years old, 60% of the population are middle or high-class homeowners and there are around maybe 15 apartment complexes. The Population here in Stevenson Ranch is mainly Caucasian White-non Hispanic with a predominant 78% of the population were one would rarely see a lot of African American families, and they barely represented a 4% of the populace, among other components of the community. There is a combination of Asians and Indians with a percentage of 7.7, and Hispanics with an 8%.
Santa Clarita’s population just by looking around without conducting any type of research I would have say that the percentages above are not precise because it seems as everywhere I look there are a high number of Caucasians and Asians who are members of this community. I live in an apartment complex called The Alara Links and just by looking around I could easily see how Caucasians and Asians constitute a majority among residents, in fact I talked with a staff member of the apartment complex leasing office just to verify if by any chance they would have the percentage of tenants based on ethnicity, well they do not, but she told me that in comparison with Hispanics, non-White Hispanics and mixed, Caucasians represented the major percentage of the apartment community occupants. I was already aware of this because most of the people who are my neighbors are either Caucasian or Asians; this detail brings me to how the minority’s awareness is not really being...
