That was the way I used to tell about London since my early school years. The major things, the well-known facts, names and stories. Nothing more… Not even a bit of interesting, unknown and informal information. It was so, until I first came to that town. I still can’t understand – how is it possible to describe a city of such a kind in that disgusting way. That’s why I want to change your attitude and impression of London as mine own were changed.
Just imagine – a huge, enormous and dynamic mass of people, vehicles, planes, which are in the unceasing movement and interaction. Imagine a colossal mixture of cultures, cuisines, traditions and beliefs. Languages, accents, appearances, skin colors and clothes – the diversity is amazing. But I should preserve some shape of my speech…. So let’s be ordered)
When a person first comes to another city he or she firstly gets a notice how big the city is? So how big is London? I can tell you that I was really astonished when I found out a accurate numbers on Wikipedia. It comes that London is just two times bigger than Kyiv. I can hardly believe in that, because the impression I got was that the city is incredibly huge. The map of London transport can stun even an experienced traveler. After some mind efforts I got the point and remembered one of the remarks I made during my trip. The secret is obvious – England is an island. Right?) So it’s clear that the available living area is quite limited. All the England is highly compact. The fields, streets, houses and buildings are situated really densely. British use every patch of soil. You can hardly meet a wide and broad road or highway. Streets are mainly narrow and tight. The traffic on them is quite hard, but for 12 days of staying I haven’t saw even a single traffic jam. The sidewalks are quite narrow too, that makes the close living...
