Final exam
A.
The Women of Algiers in Their Apartment is oil on canvas painting by Eugène Delacroix it is of three women and their servant in harem in an Islamic palace. It is located in Louvre, Paris. The painting is notable for its sexual connotations it depicts Algerian concubines of a harem.
The context in which each work was created influences the artistic treatment of the subject because both of the paintings are dealing with women that at that time society might not have accepted them. They are looked down upon because they are prostitutes and mistresses. And the women might also be ashamed of themselves that’s why some of the women in the painting of Pablo Picasso are hiding their faces with masks because they don’t want to be recognized.
B.
Helen Frankethaler,Spring Bank, 1974
Spring Bank is an Acrylic painting made by Helen Frankethaler, it is non-representational and abstract it is an abstract impressionism. There is nothing you can really depict from the art work there are just color and shapes. Helen Frankethaler uses soft colors that draws the viewer in and crates calmness it has a direction in the sense that it suggests stability and tranquility. It has harmony, the shapes are different sizes but they are alike to one another. This painting is a personal interpretation; I think it has to do with the way you are feeling and your emotions. It has to do with how the artist was feeling when they were painting it and how you feel and your mood when you are looking at the painting. It has to do with ambiguous narrative, what you individually see when you are analyzing the painting. Since there is not a solid image its left to the imagination and how the individual interprets the painting and what we see when we look at it.
