Maintaining a Proper Diet

It can be very hard to maintain a proper diet when you have a full day. From personal experience I have noticed that I do not maintain a correct diet because of my kids. When they eat I usually eat whatever they eat or I don’t eat at all. The meals that I usually prepare are fast and easy and most of the time they are greasy. I have tried many times to diet but have failed for many reasons. I buy the lean cuisine meals but have found that I don’t really like most of them. Mostly everything I buy for the house is instant. Our family is a big fan of mashed potatoes which I load with butter. Even though I know that I shouldn’t be eating some things with so little time it is more convenient for me to eat what they eat rather than fix my own meal. I know that my eating habits need improvement but it can be really hard to maintain a diet when I have so much to do every day. Since I have four kids it is almost impossible for me to workout. I wake up with them early in the morning after having little or no sleep the night before so when they go to nap I am so run down that I don’t have the energy to work out when they are sleeping.
As recommended by the My Pyramid website I should consume six oz. of grains and aim for at least three ounces of whole grains a day. I should consume 2.5 cups of veggies, two cups of fruits, and three cups of milk. Last I should have at least five and a half oz of meat. These recommendations are not hard to follow except that I don’t drink milk and I can’t stand cheese. I believe if I try really hard I could follow these guidelines.
I intend to implement my healthy eating plan by getting help from my boyfriend and family. I will also decrease my sugars and fats. By choosing leaner meats, low fat milk and cheese I can eliminate some fats. I can also use margarine rather than butter and use olive, canola, or vegetable oil to decrease my fat intake.
