In the United States there has been a prohibition on marijuana (cannabis) for over 75 years but still there are over 25 million different people smoking it every year. Cannabis is the largest cash crop in the United States and is grown everywhere. Many people claim that the marijuana prohibition is eliminating all use in the U.S. but that is very wrong and will never happen.
Another reason is if marijuana was legalized then all of the money from America wouldn’t go to all the criminals. Other countries use this to smuggle billions of dollars worth of pot into the United States. Also it would make hemp legal which is used for many important things like used as a new bio-fuel that would greatly reduce carbon emissions.
Religious use is an important topic also, many religions instruct their followers to smoke pot often. It is the same how christens drink wine at certain times. These people deserve the right to practice their religion how and when they want to as stated in the first amendment not to mention having to worry about going to jail for years and paying hefty fines
Marijuana also has positive effects such as its medical uses. Pot provides relief from pain, nausea, spasticity, and other diseases that haven’t been treated successfully with medication. We are moving in the right direction by having medical marijuana so now doctors can prescribe cannabis to people for their ailment.
Prohibition hasn’t stopped the use and production of marijuana – it’s time everyone faced this. It has been determined that American citizens will stand up against prohibition no matter what and they will keep trying until they succeed even facing arrest and jail time. And with all the positive effects that come with it marijuana it should be legalized or at least decriminalized in a few years.
