Marketing with Meaning and what that means to you?
Online Advertising is a successful tool. People today are logged in almost every hour of everyday, by either cell phones, smart phones, laptops, pc’s etc., and those are just the devices being used. Because of this, advertisers have the ability to reach the masses in seconds. People have become so addicted to instant gratification that some of the old/traditional means of receiving information has started to become obsolete. For example the television is not a monetary or ideal way to reach customers anymore because of the DVR and TEVO. Viewers now can fast forward through the commercials, which makes them useless. Newspaper ads are also becoming obsolete due to the Internet and online coupons that are offered and all you have to do is hit “print”. Newspapers are being read on-line with 24 hour up to date breaking news. Newspapers are having to have to update the website and put ads to the left or right side of the website. A good example is, is that my daughter said I looked old because I was reading a paper newspaper (notice I had to ad the word paper before newspaper) that I picked up at the store because my Internet was down that day. This just shows that the next generation will not be reading or using anything that uses anything outside of a device.
Another great way to advertise is through Social-Networking. By doing this advertisers can be target specific by using sites such as Facebook or Myspace.
Now the downfall for on-line advertising is that users are becoming distrustful of on-line advertising such as pop-ups or icons and pictures that they see on the side of their screen. The amount of advertising and Spam has users having a hard time distinguishing the difference between genuine and false adverts. Research has shown that users trust less than two percent of ads seen on-line.
