History
Domino’s Pizza was founded in the United States in 1960 by Tom Monaghan. Today there are over 8,000 Domino’s Pizza stores in more than 50 countries. Domino’s Pizza opened its first UK store in Luton in 1985 and its first the Republic of Ireland store in Dublin in 1991. There are 526 Domino’s stores in the UK and Ireland (as at 29 June 2008).
Goal and mission
Today they are working towards their goal of opening 1,000 stores by 2017.
Domino’s mission is to be the best pizza delivery company in the UK & Ireland.
Their values are summed up in a chant that’s sung in their stores:
“Sell more pizza,have more fun!”
Domino’s Pizza Group
In May 2008, Domino’s moves from the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) to the main market of the London Stock Exchange. Domino’s Pizza Group (DPG) is what’s known as a ‘Master Franchisee’, which has exclusive rights to run their own, operate and franchise Domino’s Pizza stores in the UK and Ireland. DPG awards the right to operate local Domino’s Pizza stores to entrepreneurs (franchisees) who have to pay around £250,000 to own their Domino’s Pizza business. As franchisees’ business partners. DPG employs a team to provide store support functions, which include dough production, ingredients and equipment purchasing and supply, training, operations, IT, marketing, finance, HR, property, franchise sales, leasing, transport, warehousing and administration. at locations to support franchisees in their efforts to run profitable local Domino’s Pizza businesses and to ensure that high brand standards are achieved at all stores.
Domino's Pizza Group’s real success began in the mid 1990s when the master franchise for the brand was acquired by the Halpern brothers who have enjoyed a long and successful track record in franchising.
