Mask Explanation

Mask Explanation

This mask represents me because it is simple. I do not have to wear makeup at all times, nor do I have to go to the grocery store in a pair of stilettos. I receive pleasure from simple things, and have simple days. I feel that the men and women who wore simple masks in the Egyptian, Greek and Roman eras were simple just like me. The mask is simple, but it does have 2 colors that represent me. The black in my mask represents power, elegance, formality, and mystery. People also interpret black with negative things such as evil and death, but I have different interpretations of the color. Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth. I consider it very formal, elegant, and prestigious. For example, a black tie event, a black Mercedes or the way a black suit or dress will make one look thinner. Black is the most misunderstood “color” and this is one of the reasons I chose to put it on my mask. I am also misunderstood at times. In my opinion, Black is not a color, but it is the absence of all color. The next color I chose to use was Gold. Gold represents power, prosperity, wealth and success. Gold is very soft and malleable and very worthy and so am I. For example, the “Golden child” is the most favored person, the person who everyone seems to love no matter what. Secondly, the phrase “Good as gold” which means well-behaved and obedient. I consider myself “Good as Gold” because I am reliable and worthy and I can be held at a standard of complete trust and reliability. Gold represents me also because I want to have a successful future. Success relates to Gold because we see people who are of wealth and success and how they use Gold to express their wealth. In many ways, it's gold's sheer uselessness that makes it so valuable. It was reserved for showing off luxury for a long time, and none of it had to be diverted to actual useful functions.
