A skill that I truly believe everyone should have, but do not, is common sense. I see many people these days doing things that I swear they should already know better on. Not only younger people but older as well. Having common sense will not only make sure you do not get yourself into some sort of trouble in school or work, but it will also show you have a higher maturity level. I am not trying to say that everyone needs to watch what they say, but in my opinion it will better today’s society. Common sense is truly needed in today’s society. Many teens these days do not think before they speak. This gets people into a lot of trouble. If everyone used common sense then this would not happen. Parents need to start teaching their kids common sense at an early age. This will help eliminate any future problems that the child may encounter later on in life.
Common sense can help you in life so that you do not get in trouble with the law. It will also help when you are at work. Using common sense can eliminate many work related injuries. If you knew what to do and how to avoid it you wouldn’t get hurt. It could also eliminate many sexual harassment lawsuits. Knowing that your actions anywhere can create issues will help you understand common sense better.
I think that there should be a common sense workshop. In this workshop I think that you should be taught how to think before you speak, also how to utilize your words better and you should be taught how to communicate with others. There should be role playing to show people how it feels to be around someone who does not use common sense. This would help someone to see how their actions affect those around them. I believe all high schools and colleges should offer this workshop to anyone willing to take it. These workshops would be great in the younger ages as well.
