Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to understand environmental safety and how Alumina Inc can remain compliant with the laws enforced by both the State and Federal government. Alumina Inc is a global manufacturer of aluminum which is headquartered on Lake Dira, in the State of Erehwon. Lake Dira is home to a few manufacturing firms who contribute to the economical foundation of community as well as present a scare to the environment if they do not adhere to environmental safety laws. Alumina Inc is an influential piece of this economy as known, 70% of Alumina’s US sales are derived from automotive components, packaging materials, bauxite mining, refining as well as aluminum smelting. Alumina’s sales have hit the $4billion mark and continue to grow. To shed some history, 5 years ago, Alumina Inc was found guilty and in violation of the EPA. Going forward, with the help of a strong corporate management team, Alumina should ensure their constant compliancy with Region 6 of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Clean Water Act. It is my responsibility as a Business Manager to review previous non-compliancy issues, understand the key facts to ensuring Alumina Inc stays within legal environmental safety rules and mitigate new legal issues that may come their way.
Just recently, Alumina Inc has been hit with a $5million dollar lawsuit from a local citizen named Kelly Bates. Kelly Bates is a single 38 year old woman who is outraged by the environmental hazards Alumina Inc is posing to the community through the water system. Ms. Bates believes her 10 year old daughter is suffering leukemia due to the carcinogenic particles that were once found in the contaminated water. With this accusation, I must work to prevent losses and preserve Alumina Inc’s public image demonstrating compliancy within the governing environmental laws.
