Foley has a long history at the hospital. On one hand, her experience and knowledge are recognized by the CEO, even she sees to herself as new in the C-suit. In the other hand, she built her career there and she feels she has too much to return to her institution. This is an opportunity to take action for her hospital.
Foley has 2 options:
Agree with the CEO and the consultant. And help her CEO to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Foley has 4 objectives in the case:
Make her best for the institution, as a way to return the opportunities it had given.
Act with loyalty to the CEO, who trusts her.
Make the correct move for her career and family.
(2) Be successful. If she convinces the CEO to think about the impacts to all the stakeholders if the hospital is sold, look for another consultant and/or revise the numbers, and look for different way to solve the financial problem, she not only will have the calmness of have acted in accordance with her values, she also will had acted according to accomplish her objectives and value her position as COO.
(3)Her career and family could be damage if the hospital would sell.

Denise must talk with the CEO and address the conversion in the following points:
(2) The huge impact to the community, clients, services and employees that implies the sale of the hospital. Using as example former non-profit hospital that have been sold to for profit organizations. Putting especially attention to what would be happened with the mental care department.
