It was August 18, 2012, move in day for college and I was the happiest person alive. I kissed my little sibling goodbye and out the door I went. My mother and a few of my aunts wanted to take me to school and get me settle in on my first day of college. I was glad of the fact they was coming but I was more excited of the fact I was attending Prairie View AMU.
That day wasn’t just move in day; it was “Panther Camp” for the entire incoming freshman. Panther Camp is when we get to know about the campus and the people we are going to be living with. I had a roommate name Brittany. If anybody knew me, they knew I love my roommate. I believe I had the best roommate alive because she was great and we got along so well. Brittany and I kind of already knew each other before we came to school because of our mothers but us living together as roommate made us become even closer than before. When we finally arrive to campus, there were so many people everywhere. Music was playing, people selling snacks, the football player helping people with their stuff and even nice people greeting us as we came in. When I saw that, I really felt like I was in college then. We got all my stuff in my room, fix it up and then before you knew it; it was time to say our goodbyes. I know I was all excited about going to college but it hit me hard when I realize my mother was leaving me and I would be on my very own.
Not only was I attending Prairie View, I also was a Prairie View cheerleader. I always been a cheerleader growing up but being a college cheerleader was the best experience I ever had. My cheer team and I spent a lot of time together, mainly around campus because we was like the role models around the school. So we had to be careful of the things we do, because one bad move will get around fast. My favorite part about being a college cheerleader was performing in front of a big crowd or at the basketball and football games. Now I’m not going to say we had the best football...
