Means of transport.
Of all means of transport I give my vote to the car. First of all it is private –if you own a car, you will always have a place to arrange your thoughts. On the days when everything must be done right away, that little space you have when you go from one place to another, may be the perfect occasion to slow down and relax.
It is well that the commonest transport should be also the best. Of the virtues of the car I have not room fully to speak. It gives you independence, as you can go everywhere without depending on other people’s timetables. You can choose the most suitable model for you, for they can have different shapes and colours. It keeps you attached to reality, one must be informed about the rises regarding the oil, as it will affect the price of fuel.
But all this would count nothing had not the car such a delightful qualities of comfort. I am a slave to its leather seats.
Next to the car I place the bicycle. The bicycle is a companionable mean of transport. You exercise while you travel, and you can go on and on by the roads specially built for bicycles, though you must mind not to be hit by a car.
Planes are good means of transport gone wrong. A plane by it self might be indeed the best mean of transport of all; but it is not due to the price of the tickets.
Yet with the car we do travel year in and year out.
