Media, Science, and Technology
Media, Science, and Technology are used to control our lives and shape our society. They are all connected in making our lives easier and they add convenience to our lives. Our society is becoming more and more dependent on these things and we are becoming lazy and unable to think for ourselves. My younger relatives are being brought up with the need of this technology and media they are being influenced on what to wear, how to act, and what things to buy. They have changed since then they are losing themselves and are being sucked into this cult- like society. We more need to pay attention to this and see that the world around us is changing drastically and if we don’t control it then it is going to control us.
Media is the means of communication such as the radio, newspapers, magazines, and television that reach or influence people widely. The media controls our everyday lives by having many people in our society that can not think for themselves and do not like to read and study so they believe everything they hear from the media. The media influences us to buy things it influences our behavior. Commercials show us things that we think we want but in reality we really don’t need them. But that is how we were taught, that is how the system works. For example when we see a commercial on Whataburger we automatically start thinking “Mmm… I want a burger.” The commercial is designed to appeal to our senses. The tone of the narrator’s voice we hear is an attractive voice, we practically smell and taste the burgers due the sizzling noise we here when the burgers are being cooked. Our society has become fixated on the thought that we want and need everything we see whether it be food, clothes, or useless accessories.
