 When asked the question, how do we know whether new media electronic media are helping or hurting society? It’s a loaded question that from my reading of three different authors still hasn’t fully been answered with a yes nor a no. Upon reading Kennedy, Dickerson, and Grove I find that the question is still floating in the air unanswered though all three authors do make good arguments there is still a question or two that one might ask. The question at hand though is what commonalities do Blogging, Twitter, and YouTube have within and are they being abused by society today?

First, to start off there are many arguments towards blogging. Is it still common, does it really matter what benefits comes with blogging, how many people really still blog nowadays? Well yes and Dan Kennedy answers all those questions plus some that weren’t asked aloud but in your mind while reading his blog. How ironic is that you ask these questions while reading an actual blog. While to some blogging might seem irrelevant it actually has become quite popular amongst teens, college students, those whom follow their favorite artist, etc. that list could go on and on for days and still not fully be finished but the point that is trying to be made is that while some feel like blogs don’t really exist or are unimportant to some without blogs a lot of people wouldn’t get some of their news or catch up on the latest celeb gossip. In the text” Political Blogs: Teaching Us Lessons About Community”, By Dan Kennedy. Kennedy says “Perhaps what’s happening is that the best and more popular blogs provide a sense of community …..”Within this quote is more than meets the eye but it leads me to my next point that of which Dickerson comes into play.

Second, Dickerson comes in view of Twitter with the question of what does twitter have to do with this? Well it has a lot to do with it, Twitter is like the updated version of blogging in my opinion and in a way Dickerson too. In “Don’t Fear Twitter:...
