Memories of Trout Lake

Trout Lake is located near the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, surrounded by massive white birch and maple tress, beautiful meadows, and crystal clear water, so clear you can almost see the bottom. It was a place to get away from everyday life, for the weekend or just for a week or two. Trout Lake holds a special place in my heart and I have some really fond memories of spending time there. It's a place where memories are made, like the first time I learned how to swim, the family BBQ'S, sitting around the campfire roasting hotdogs and marshmallow's for s'mores, and holidays, especially the Fourth of July. Spending time at Trout Lake changed my perspective on what the "word" family means. I never really had that special connection with my blood family because of my parents divorce. With my new step-family in Arizona they didn't have a special place for family get togethers, like the cabin in Trout Lake.


I remember the first time my mom took me and my brother's to the cabin on Trout Lake which was owned by my Uncle Deck and Aunt Joanie. My mom drove us down a long curvy road, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Along both sides of the rocky road stood these enormous maple and white birch trees which seemed to be over two hundred feet tall and stretched for miles ( according to a seven year old child ). I can still remember rolling down my window to get a better look at the surroundings. The smells were so intoxicating that I can still recall them to this day The different aromas from the old falling leafs and tree limbs, the muddy dirt, and all the different kinds of wildflowers. The meadows that surround the area were filled with purple irises, adirondack wildflowers, orange day lilies, wild daisies, and cow vetch wildflowers just to name a few. It was like a rainbow of all these different colors not in the sky but on the ground.
