Organizational Planning
Cablevision is considering to streamline the services that they are providing to customers. They are focusing on a new era for how customer views television programming. Cablevision is considering doing away with cable TV. That's right done away with it! "As reported, Mr. Dolan expects transmission of television to eventually shift to the Internet, and says that "there could come a day" when Cablevision stops offering television service, making broadband its primary ," (Ramachandran, 2013, The Wall Street Journal, para. 3). If cable television is going to an internet only, I consider this a strategic change that Cablevision as a whole will have to plan for.
Purpose
Cablevision will need to re-think its mission and vision statements to ensure that they support the internet only system providing cable viewing options. When the direction of focus changes, often it is necessary to revisit your mission and vision statements. Management will need to ensure that they are still valid, or changes may be need.
Resources
Cablevision will have to review its resources to ensure that the change from cable to the internet is financial feasible. They have to consider the costs of losing/gaining customers, financial burden to do the switch, internal training for employees, etc.… Cablevision will also need to review the best financial way to achieve its goals of converting from cable to internet lines for all customer's telecommunication needs.
Operational
While the CEO and top executives of Cablevision will determine that best route for the company as a whole, lower level management and team leads will also have pertinent parts in being effective in the company's conversion. Lower level management will be instrumental in ensuring team, and individual goals are congruent with the organizational vision and mission statements.
