Military Letter of Apology

Military Letter of Apology

18 March 2009

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

SUBJECT: Letter of Apology

1. I am writing to apologize for my actions on 12 March 2009. I was given a task from the Battalion to deliver urinalysis samples to the Department of Homeland Security and failed to meet my suspense time.

2. I realize the impact, my actions had on SFC Snuffy. I regret my actions and I understand the effect they could have on good order and military discipline. I now realize that my actions were wrong, and that they affect others besides me. I understand that these actions have a high potential for negatively affecting my effectiveness as an NCO and I consider myself a true professional who learns from mistakes. I assure you that there will be no further incidents of this nature in the future. I have learned to take the path that demonstrates true leadership rather than the easy road. I will continue to strive to live up to the Army Values, specifically ‘Duty; fulfill your obligations. Accept responsibility for your own actions and those entrusted to your care’ and to conform to the Creed of the Non-Commissioned Officer ‘Competence is my watchword. My two basic responsibilities will always be uppermost in my mind -- accomplishment of my mission and the welfare of my soldiers. I will strive to remain technically and tactically proficient. I am aware of my role as a Noncommissioned Officer. I will fulfill my responsibilities inherent in that role.’

5. I sincerely apologize for failing to accomplish the mission entrusted to me. It will not happen again.
