Millenial Students

The Millennial students and I share many of the same characteristics. Many of the ideas and assumptions that are traits of the millennial students are similar to how I am, and how I’ve been raised. We are both confident, team oriented, achieving, and conventional. I feel that these are strong traits to possess, and that the millennial students, like me, are strong and capable people.
The Millennial students and I are both very confident. A millennial student is “raised by parents believing in the importance of self esteem” (MacNeil1). This means that millennial students were brought up by their parents telling them to always believe in themselves, and to think highly of themselves. This is very much like the way that I was raised. My parents always told me that I was smart, pretty, and determined. This always boosted my confidence when my parents told me these things, just like how a parent of a millennial student would be. Another reason the millennial students and I are both confident is because we are both “optimistic yet practical” (MacNeil1). This means that they are hopeful that good things will happen to them in their life, but they do not exceed the belief that everything is perfect. For example they probably think that they will make good money from going to school, and getting a good job. This is how I was raised as well. I was always told that I could do anything I put my mind too. However, I know that I’m not that great at math or science. Therefore, I know I will end up happy with my career choice, but I do not expect that I’m going to end up being a scientist or marine biologist. Finally, both the millennial students and I “enjoy strong connections with their parents” (MacNeil1). Having a good relationship with your parents can make you a better more confident person. I am very close with my mom and always will be. She is the one person who will always be honest with me. She inspires me to do my best and that I will succeed in anything that I put...
