BIOGRAPHY

MN3 Ashl Knight was born 13 may 1980 to parents Kandy and Lee Knight in Columbia, Missouri. She is the middle child of seven siblings; three boys and four girls. She grew up in Independence, home of Harry Truman and graduated from William Chrisman High School.
At age 19, MN3 chose to enlist in the United States Navy, following in the footsteps of her maternal great-grandfather and paternal grandfather of military service. In 2010, after completing Recruit Training, Apprentice Technical Training, and Mineman Technical training school in San Diego, California; she received her first set of orders to Navy Munitions Command, formerly known as MOMAU 11, in Charleston, South Carolina.
While serving in there, she became an invaluable asset as a Quality Assurance Inspector, Auxiliary Security Force Team Member, Training Division Work Center Supervisor, and Planning Division Work Center Supervisor. MN3’s knowledge and drive ensured the mission readiness of 2,000 War Reserve service mines, an inventory accuracy score of 97.6% accounting for more than 4,000 ordnance items valued at over 6.5 million dollars. She has also completed the maintenance and preparation of over 245 tons of inert and live ordnance in 75% of the allotted time. MN3 Knight was also hand selected to support the joint USN-USAF 340 WPS bombing syllabus. During the 2013 Explosive Safety Inspection, her efforts resulted in an unprecedented zero discrepancies in the qualification and certification program she managed.
MN3 Knight was active both with in and out of her command as a member of the Unit’s Ceremonial Honor guard participating in two retirements, three of the annual Massing of the Colors at The Citadel, Charleston’s Veteran’s Day March and a Change of Command.
