The family in today’s world is a whole different ball game than what a family was years ago. Today’s families are more diverse, accepting, separated, and for the most part are becoming more liberal. Families in the past were more traditional with the mother, the father, the children, and possibly a grandparent living with them. The majority of the families today do still live in this way, but with divorce rates getting higher every year and the increase in abandonment from one of the parents in a teenage pregnancy, usually the father, the single parent family has become very common. This generation is very fast paced and has grown accustomed to everything being done in an instant. This causes many relationships to break apart quickly because there is lack of patience and a will to work things out, which then cause the separation or disunion of a family. Any time that something is believed to not be repairable in this time it is immediately thrown away and forgotten. That is the same mentality that many families have today. In the past everything was done with patience and a will to try everything that could make something work until there were no more options. That is why past generations of families endured more, because if there were issues they would be worked on until a solution could be found instead of just letting the issue become a major problem that would cause destruction in the family.
Diversity is key in today’s families because of how our society has become more open to interracial marriages and also how this generation has been raised to be more accepting and tolerant to other groups of people. There are still some issues with diversity in families unfortunately. It can be see when an interracial couple can still get bad looks in a store or any other public place. However, as time passes it will become more common and more people will become more accepting. Especially here in the United States where there are so many different types of people and...
