Good parenting and home life have an enormous effect on children’s education. Children at an early ages and also when they are in their teens learn from their parents and copy their parents’ behaviors and actions. Parents are often the only sources for kids to learn about the world surrounding them, they are their guides and their first teachers.
A child when it is born is helpless and totally dependent on the parent. It’s Mother and Father are the ones who are taking care of the child and showing him or her how to cope with the world. They show him what to eat, how to dress, how to play, how to behave. They are responsible for their life, their health and their development.
Parenting styles have huge impact on child’s attitude towards education and learning. According to the NYC Child Study Center there are four main styles of parenting: authoritarian, authoritative, permissive and uninvolved. The style impacts child’s educational attitude. Authoritarian parents are highly controlling and strict when interacting with their children; they value obedience and have little sensitivity to the child's own desires or decision making skills. The child is told what to do and forced to study and is most likely to rebel against their parents. Authoritative parents set limits, but in a democratic sense. They use kindness and warmth to motivate and support their children. The kids will be told to study but with an explanation as to why they have to do it. Permissive parents are kind and warm but lack rule-setting skills and typically indulge their children's whims. They would tell the child to study if they wanted to. No forcing, it’s their choice....
