I am Shonta Thomas and excited about pursuing my MBA with the University of Phoenix online. I graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. My previous career goal was to attend Law School. Over the course of the years I decided I was really interested in exploring entrepreneurship and decided to change my career goal and study for my MBA.
I reside in Austin, Texas where I am employed with the National Headquarters of Whole Foods Market. I work in the payroll department as a Payroll Team Leader with 5 years of leadership experience. I manage a team of 10 and trust me when I say each day is a new challenge. I have learned so much from my career with this company and looking forward to adding the knowledge of the online educational tools and class discussions.
My usual activities include: Mentoring with the School District for middle school age girls, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels twice a month. I also enjoy daily gym workouts, dancing, cooking, shopping, and fashion. I am very involved with my church and choir
I am a single parent/guardian- raising my 2 younger siblings (18, 16). I have no children of my own but we do have a Yorkie puppy named Diamond. She is a handful all by herself.
My schedule is very busy but I know the online program will be flexible enough for me to continue my full time job and many other responsibilities as well as obtain my MBA. This is just the beginning of the next step and I am ready for the challenge!!
