My Best Job
Jobs may come and jobs may go, but I had one job that has impacted me for a lifetime. I have been working since I was fourteen. I have copied for a church, worked the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A, and was a cashier at Kroger. I have held several jobs since then; however, the best job I have ever had was working at Meineke Car Care Center. The pay was competitive, the employees were great, and the experience was amazing. All of these things are what made working at Meineke the best job I have ever had.
First of all, out of all the jobs I had when I was younger, this was the best paying job. I made ten dollars an hour. At the time, that was great for a seventeen year old. I was able to pay for my own car and still was able to put gas in it. I paid all of my own bills and never had to rely on my parents for anything. I was also able to afford the books and supplies I needed for my college classes.
Next, the employees were great. They were very accepting of a female learning the automotive trade. They never got irritated with all the questions I asked. They showed me how to operate their computer program, and to give the customers proper quotes on the work they wanted done to their vehicles. They taught me much valuable information and great skills that I still use today.
The greatest thing out of the whole time I worked at Meineke, was everything that I learned. The skills I learned are invaluable. I leaned the proper way to replace brakes, and how to do tune ups. I watched the head tech, Ray, as he fixed leaky exhausts, and even as he constructed a whole new exhaust system for old classic cars. I even got to drive a monster truck! I have always been fascinated with cars. There were many classics that came through the shop, and I sometimes got the chance to take the cars on a test drive, after the mechanics had finished their work on that particular vehicle.
