My Country
Myanmar, one of the most pleasant countries of the World, is my beloved country.
It is situated in southeast Asia and is bordered on the north and northeast by China; on the east and southeast by Laos and Thailand; on the south by the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal; and on the west by Bangladesh and India. The country covers an area of 261,228 square miles. The population of Myanmar is about 60 million.
Myanmar is a union of 135 ethnic groups with their own languages and dialects. The major races are Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Bamar, Rakhine, and Shan. Though Myanmar has a great racial diversity, it never lacks unity in its history. Different national races live in harmony with their own cultures and lifestyles from the very beginning of its history.
Myanmar has a long and interesting history. The earliest primates known today as Pondaung Man, resided in Pondaung, northern Myanmar about 40 million years ago.The first identifiable civilization is that of the Mon race. A popular Burmese King by the name Anawratha, founded the first Myanmar Empire in 11th century.
Myanmar is the land of nice and brave people. We, the people of Myanmar, are religious, friendly and peace-loving. Nevertheless, we are not coward and slow to defend our liberty.
Myanmar, most coveted country in the world, is richly blessed with extensive natural deposits such as, zinc, lead, copper, gold and gas. Besides, it is also well known for its first-class gemstones like ruby and jade. The soil of Myanmar is so fertile that most of its population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. My country is the land of natural beauty as well. The unspoiled beauties of nature such as snow-capped mountains of Kachin sate and sandy beaches of Myanmar seashores are beyond the expression of words.
