My first mode at Medix was very eventful and memorial for me. Ms Winsome was my teacher and still is. I remembered some of the old students that I met last mode and their advices to us that are just coming in, I remember them telling us to do our assignments as soon as we get them, and that we should also read our textbooks that it helps a lot. But it never registered in my head, I never processed that thought in my head until I was eventually went through the semester and then I started struggling with my assignments and projects. I would have loved to be here on the first day of the second mode just so I can also advice the new student and tell them a bit about my experience when it comes to the projects and assignments and exams, but I was away during the last week of the semester so I missed out on the introductions.
I remember at the very beginning I was comfortable, and I was very happy waking up every morning and coming in to class, but towards the middle of the semester some issues arose and it became a big problem. Though I believed that most of us in the class at that time have some form of education to be able to sit in an academic class such as Community Service Worker, knowing fully well that this course is geared to assisting displaced people bring stability to their lives, but I could not understand how other people could come to class and sit there for many hours learning what they don’t intend to preach. Certain people made fun of others in and out of class room, without thinking how it will affect the other individuals. To me this is a childish behavior. I had previously believed that everyone was brought up with proper morals, values, knowledge and dignity, so we should all act mature and not be selfish, but I thought wrong. I found myself wishing that things would go back to how it was in the beginning because I did not have any problem whatsoever with the students; we all worked well and manage things pretty well.
