My Ghostly Virginia Visit


It was June of 2012 when my family and I were visiting Virginia Beach, VA. I had been on this route many times before but had never seen anything as bizarre as I had witnessed that night. It was in the early hours of the morning, probably between 1:30 and 3:30 AM. I was riding a minivan with my 13-year-old cousin as my partner in crime while my two younger brothers were asleep in the back. My mom and my sister were in the other truck following us. It was along Route 58 either just before you go through Emporia or a little after you enter Emporia.

It was pretty foggy that night, not exactly as thick as pea soup fog but pretty heavy in some patches. The grass along the inner median was a little
tall, almost like it was a corn field. About fifty yards ahead of us my cousin and I observed a gentleman exit the middle median and run along the road. Just as we caught up with him, he darted back into the tall grass of the median, and we lost sight of him. A little ways down the road, my cousin and I observed the same man run out of the grass along the
median and do the same thing again as we caught up to him. My cousin and I looked at one another confused at what we were seeing. How could this man be in front of us and we just passed him doing 55 miles per hour. A little ways down the road the man exited the grass again and like before, he darted in when we caught up to him. Again, a little ways down the road, we saw the man again. Only this time when he darted back into the grass something different happened.

From out of nowhere there was a deer in the middle of the road charging straight at us. As my mom swerved the van to the right, I could see the deer lower his head. She never lost control of the van and kept on going. When we stopped for
gas shortly thereafter, my cousin and I asked my mom and sister if they had seen what happened. They had not seen the man but did see the deer that my cousin and I had seen. What they saw was a rabbit that was...
