RODAH SYMEKAH CLASS: SPEECH 1311 PROFFESSOR: JENN Effective Communication Communication has always been considered as a way of sending and receiving messages from people of different cultures or people who come from different continents of the world. During communication there is always a sender who usually comes up with the initial information and there is areceiver who gets the sent information and he or she is expected to send back a feedback. Before the receiver gets the information there are some models that are used in between. For example, the sender has to come up with the initial message that he wants to send, then he selects the channel which he will use to send his information. The sender also has to consider the factors that will hinder effective communication between him and the receiver, this factors can either be internal or external. After sending the information the sender expects a feedback from the receiver this confirms that the receiver had received the information which was sent to him. Although a lot of people consider communication as an easy thing it is not easy. I remember when I first came to the U.S I attended some developmental classes in English I was scared of talking to people because of my African accent. I remember one time we had to do a self disclosure presentation I was so scared that I could barely remember anything about myself although I know that I usually get nervous when I talk when people look at me that day it was worse than I ever thought. I realized that other student s didn’t get what I said though the channel chosen by the student was considered most effective . I came to a conclusion that to prevent a similar situation from happening in the near future is to compose myself and ensure that I speak loudly, slowly and clearly to the audience. By doing this I would have created a clear picture of my presentation to the audience although I know it will take me some time to overcome my fear and...
