Reading has to be the key to the door of knowledge. Reading comes in many different shapes, cultures, and tones. When receiving an early education reading become the most important thing you will ever learn to do along with write. With no knowledge in reading life would be a lot more confusing, communication would be almost impossible, and there would be no such things as a record.
Early in my childhood, reading had proved to be quite challenging to me. I would be tested pretty often to see if I could keep up with my class. I usually could not. So I started to participate in a tutoring program offered by the school. The program bribed me with candy if I read the reading correct with no mistakes. I eventually began to actually love to read. Reading was like peeking into someone else’s imagination and seeing the stories that go thru their heads.
My reading skills soon passed everyone’s in the class I was in and the teachers saw it too so I was moved into an advanced class where the classwork was much harder. Our school offered an accelerated reading program which I participated in faithfully. I would win first prize most of the time, if not first then I was always second or third. You obtain AR points by reading a book, and taking a quiz on the computer of the book. Depending on the skill level of the book, you would either get a lot of AR points, or not many at all. This program really made my reading boost in skill levels because I would always choose the toughest books our school offered to read about. This helped me in my transition to middle and high school because the reading was more difficult and I was prepared for it.
