“ I want people to know that I am about it and I’m not just doing nothing, I want them to see me and not just look at my appearance but see that I have motivation and I’m doing something with my life” As Tyrone exclaimed to me, I could see that look in his eyes as he stood up and looked at me. I feel the need to let others, beside my teammates, to understand who Tyrone is. Most people that see him probably do not think he was a good athlete or football player. I see him as a big brother since I have been in college he always helps me out and showed me what to do to get through college.
Turning on the T.V. to watch college football he began talking about how he grew up in Oakland, California. How he was chilling with his boys getting into trouble, just trying to wreck a little havoc in the streets for fun. As I was taking notes Tyrone stopped me to see a touchdown during the game by the Georgia Bulldogs. I asked Tyrone, “What do you miss about California”, he responded saying, “everything the weather, the life, the atmosphere I miss it all. Nothing over here is anything like it was over there it’s like a whole different part of the world.” Trying to keep up with what he was saying he paused, writing vigorously in my book Tyrone told me that he missed the kids he grew up with. “ I missed them, we were all wild and really young trying to do what we thought was fun. Never really worrying about anything just doing whatever we saw the big homies doing trying to be like them.”
Why did you leave California? All of your friends and father’s family is there what made you move, “I got into serious trouble” looking away at the game and just talking while watching the game Tyrone told me he got shot in the leg. I knew he got shot but he never really told us why or what he was doing to get shot.
